How much does PayPal charge?

Stripe's published US rate for online card payments is 2.9% plus 0.30 USD per successful charge. Cards issued outside the US typically add 1.5%, and currency conversion adds another 1%. How do I work out what to charge to receive a set amount?

Add the fixed fee to the amount you want to receive, then divide by one minus the percentage fee. To receive 100 with a 3.49% plus 0.49 fee: (100 + 0.49) ÷ (1 − 0.0349) = 104.13. The calculator rounds up to the smallest coin in your currency, so you are never left short.

Why doesn't the fee match my statement?

Fees depend on where you and your customer are, the currency, how the customer paid, your account type and any custom pricing you have agreed. The fixed fee is also set separately for each currency. The presets here are typical published US rates only, so copy the rate from your own account into the fields for an exact figure.

Are there cheaper ways to get paid?

For customers in your own country, a bank transfer or a local QR payment such as PayNow, UPI, Pix or PromptPay often costs you little or nothing to receive.
