Question 1

Where do I find my Google review link?

Accepted Answer

Sign in to the Google account that manages your Business Profile and search for your business name on Google. In your profile, choose Ask for reviews (in the Google Maps app it may be called Get more reviews) and copy the link. It usually looks like g.page/r/ followed by a code and /review.

Question 2

What is a Place ID, and where do I find it?

Accepted Answer

A Place ID is the code Google uses for your business on Google Maps. Search for your business in Google's Place ID Finder, on the Google Maps Platform website, and copy the ID it shows. It usually starts with ChIJ. You only need it if you can't get the review link from your profile.

Question 3

Can I offer a discount or gift in return for a review?

Accepted Answer

No. Google's policies don't allow offering money, discounts, free items or any other reward in exchange for a review. You can ask customers to leave one, as long as nothing is offered in return.

Question 4

Can I ask only the customers who were happy?

Accepted Answer

No. Asking only customers you expect to be positive, or screening customers before sending them to Google, is known as review gating and isn't allowed under Google's policies. Put the card where every customer can see it, and reply to the less positive reviews too.

Question 5

Does the QR code expire?

Accepted Answer

No. The code only contains your review link, so it keeps working for as long as your Business Profile does. There's no sign-up and no watermark.
